Reservoirs

Which Reservoir Should I Choose - 5L or 8L?

When you purchase your new Fresair S8 golf cart air conditioner, you can select a 5L or 8L reservoir.  The 5L reservoir tends to better suit Club Car, while the 8L reservoir generally works well with EZGO and Yamaha carts.

Read on to find out which will work best for you, including some frequently asked questions about the Fresair S8 reservoirs.

5L Reservoir

The 5L reservoir is mounted out of sight under the bodywork of the cart (usually a rear wheel well or front storage compartment).  It is connected via a hose to a gas cap-style fill cap on the outside of the cart.  This installation suits most carts but especially Club Car.

8L Reservoir

The 8L reservoir is about the size of a battery.  The 8L reservoir can be installed under the seat with the batteries if there is space.  Many EZGO and Yamaha carts have space under the seat  for an 8L battery-sized reservoir.  They can also be mounted in the rear cargo hold or in the sweater basket.  The 8L reservoir is filled by simply unscrewing the lid and filling it directly.

No.  Ice will not hurt the system, but it is not necessary because the difference in thermal sensation will be minimal.

The sensor buoy is attached to the water tank and monitors the water level.  If the tank is full and the low water warning light remains on, check that the sensor is inserted correctly in the reservoir with the green dot facing up.  If the sensor is inserted correctly and the light remains on it should be replaced.

The return pump is located in the tray and returns excess water to the reservoir.

Fresair recommends replacing the injection pump every 12 months.

For golf carts, there are two options: the 8L under the seat (size of a battery) & the 5L remote fill (normally installed within a wheel well). Both reservoirs are not visible to the eye when installed and offer a very convenient waist-high filling system.

Yes, water consumption is based upon the exterior ambient temperature but you should get an absolute minimum of 4 hours of a cooling sensation.
